Theme of Brief
The brief for my photography is Identity. I must present a selection of photos to the Millenium Gallery themed around identity. The identity I have chosen to show off is Sheffield's urban identity as there is plenty to capture and a very wide range of methods I can use to show off SheffieldWhat do I intend to Photograph? - I really like Urban Landscape Photography so I will try and get high up on building or hill and take a Landscape photo of the city.
I will be taking mostly wide shots of the city with a far depth of field so the city is in focus. If I am taking photos at night I will have a slow shutter speed as I need to capture as much light as possible to get a clear and good looking photo, and obviously light is limited at night so a long shutter speed allows for photos to still be taken. A key part of my project is light as depending on the amount of light let into the camera, the photos will have a completely different stlye, and feel to them. For example, I will take photos in the same spots but at different times and weathers to see what effect the conditions have. When I get a good idea of which conditions look good with my photos, I will make a concious effort to replicate thos conditions throughout my project.
I really like this style of photography as I feel like there is so much you can do with it, whereas other genres can be quite limiting. Also I spend a lot of time in an urban environment so I will often be able to take photos for my project.
As I am focusing on Landscape photography, I do not need any models so I won't need anyone to sign for permission forms. This also gives me more time as I don't have to worry about the forms. Additionally, as I am taking the photos in public places, I don't need permissions to take photos in the places I am going to, as it is legal taking photos in a public place. Aslong as I am not tresspassing on people's land, I am perfectly allowed to take photos without asking. This ease of access gives me the freedom
