LO2 - Treatment

Brief
We have been asked to create a series of photographs for a display in the millennium gallery. This will be as part of the theme of identity.

Concept Idea

The concept for my photography will be identifying Urban landscapes and capturing wide shots of the city in different conditions and by then editing and changing the light let into the camera to see what effect it has on the photo, and therefore any and all viewers.


Target Audience

While I feel like people from any age can appreciate Urban Landscape Photography, I feel as though young people will like it more as they can relate to the modern architecture in Sheffield. I will be mainly looking at high angle photography as I have looked at a lot of photos from this style, and they often look good when taken from up high as you can fit so much in the shot with a wide angle lens. While I don't want to limit my work to a particular age group, I feel as though my project will be more popular in the group of about 16-25 as I feel like young people will be more in touch with the modern side of the city.

Health and Safety

There will be a few health and safety issues with doing this kind of photography, especially if I plan on getting high up to take my shots.

Slipping hazard - If there is rain and I am on top a building or high up, it is likely the terrain will be very slippery so I must by careful not to slip so I don't either hurt myself, or damage the equipment

Theft of equipment- As I will be experimenting with different in takes of light, I will almost definitely at some point use long exposure and have a low shutter speed and will therefore leave the camera un-attended as I will have nothing to do once I have set the photo to start letting in light. Someone could in theory take steal a piece of equipment if I take my eye of the camera while it's taking the photo.

Emergency contacts - with myself being in potentially dangerous spots, it is very important that people know where I am in case of an accident leaving me injured, it is important that there are people who know where I am they can help me if something goes wrong.

Falling Hazard - I will probably do some climbing as well as generally just being high up when taking these shots so there will always be the risk of an accident. However, I feel confident in my ability because I have a decent amount of experience with this kind of photography as I have always been interested in it

Legal and Ethical

Again, my photography involves no one except me, and the city of Sheffield so I will not need any permissions from models, or from places I am going to shoot, as it will always be in public places. This will give me so much time as I won't have to make any Call Sheets or Recce Forms for people to sign, it also means I do not have to work around someone else's time and I can shoot whenever I am free.

Contingencies

Because I am basically working completely on my own, I do not have to worry about any models cancelling on plans, I have free reign over when I take photos.

If there is a problem involving me not being able to use a camera, there are many cameras at my college so I always have access to more, should there be a problem not allowing me to get the photos I need.
